Intro to Graphic Design
6:30pm-8:30pm | Ages 10+ | Free Workshop
Description
In this introductory graphic design course, students will explore the fundamental principles of design—such as balance, contrast, alignment, repetition, and proximity—while gaining hands-on experience with Adobe Illustrator. Through a series of engaging projects, participants will learn how to apply these principles effectively to create visually compelling compositions. As they become familiar with Illustrator's tools and features, students will develop a strong foundation in design theory and practice, empowering them to bring their creative ideas to life digitally. To maximize their learning experience, students are encouraged to take this course in addition to Intro to Photoshop and Intro to Typesetting & Typography (Adobe InDesign), allowing them to develop a comprehensive understanding of the design process across various media. Students under 10 will have to prove computer proficiency. Please email jessdescobedo@gmail.com to schedule an evaluation. This workshop is made possible in part through a grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission.
