Her Story
Sarah Shelton has been dancing since she was three years old and her whole life has been dedicated to dance and the arts. Despite losing her father to a heart attack at the tender age of nine, community care and support of Sarah and her mother enabled her to continue dancing. During the 7th grade, Sarah was accepted into the Alabama School of Fine Arts Dance Department. However, at 16 years of age, tragedy struck again when Sarah's mother was killed in a car accident.

In due course, Sarah moved to Memphis where, through drive, ambition, and hard work, she earned her GED and a degree in Hospitality Management. From there, Sarah worked and danced for many companies worldwide throughout her twenties. Buying a home, sight unseen, in a town she'd never visited rooted her firmly in Diamondhead, where her son was able to be a part of Diamondhead's Golf Academy.

After settling in, Sarah worked as the Ballet Director of Gulf Coast Performing Arts producing and casting the Nutcracker at the Beau Rivage. When the pandemic of Covid-19 struck and shut down the country in an instant, Sarah had time to ultimately reflect and realize the amazing community she'd adopted. Through lifelong contacts combined with her love of people, community, and the arts, Sarah was ready to found the Diamondhead School of Fine Arts.

Now she can be seen teaching ballet classes, making an appearance in the current play, or hosting the Annual Gala.
