The Adventures of Neverland Summer Reading Program at Diamondhead School of Fine Arts is a multi-week immersive literacy initiative designed to foster a love for reading and deepen comprehension among students in grades K–8.
Through age-tailored activities—such as read-aloud sessions, guided discussions, and personal journaling—students explore the classic tale of Peter Pan, culminating in a live performance of Peter/Wendy. By integrating literature with the performing arts, the program supports critical thinking and creative engagement. This transformative educational experience is proudly supported by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, whose generous funding helps bring quality literacy programming to underserved communities.

Grades K-4
Andie Rennie
With over 15 years of experience in theatre, Andie is passionate about arts education and believes in the power of performance to build confidence, empathy, and community. She has worked as a preschool instructor for three years and has professional experience in Recreation & Activities with the Walt Disney World Company, where she brought imaginative experiences to life for children and families.

Andie now works in the mental health field with adolescents and hopes to one day combine her love for theatre and her dedication to helping others through drama therapy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and is committed to using the arts as a tool for education, growth, and healing.
Grades 5-8
Christina Oates
Ms. Oates is an experienced early elementary educator with over a decade of dedication to teaching young learners. Currently serving K–2 students in a virtual setting, she combines innovation and warmth to create engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that support foundational skills and foster a love of learning.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education with a reading emphasis from Mississippi College. Ms. Oates is LETRS-trained in phonics intervention, equipping her with effective strategies to support early literacy and individualized instruction. Her background spans both in-person and virtual classrooms, where she excels at creating interactive and supportive learning environments for young students.
